Snooki Coming to PA?

The Central Pennsylvania Film Office is inviting Snooki and the gang to the Keystone State. The cast and crew of "Jersey Shore" have been invited to film a spin-off of the popular MTV show in -- did you guess yet? --Lycoming County's Jersey Shore. No word from the producers yet on whether they will accept the invitation.

Pickup Truck Hits House

No one was hurt but a Shinglehouse man is facing charges after hitting a house with his pickup truck. Police say 52-year-old Dana Gross was pulling into a driving on Wild Cat Road when the truck didn’t stop and hit the house. Gross is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, and was cited for careless driving.

Man Charged With Assaulting Police Officer

An Olean man, who is charged with assaulting a police officer and robbery, remains in the Cattaraugus County Jail. 22 year-old Daniel Klein has pleaded not-guilty to robbery, menacing and unlawful possession of marijuana. Olean Police have accused Klein of a robbery, where a weapon was displayed, and injuring a responding police officer.

Port Man Pleads to Two Crimes

A Port Allegany man pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court to different crimes. 18 year-old Jacob Tarr had been charged with burglary in one case and theft in another on October 13 of last year. Tarr was accused of stealing a laptop and then entering a residence in Port Allegany to commit another crime. He will be sentenced on March 15.

Bfd Man Charged With Stalking Woman

A Bradford man was arrested earlie rthis week and charged with stalking his ex-girlfriend. Court records indicate that 39 year-old James Hochstine allegedly tried to break into a woman's apartment in Kiwanis Court by damaging a door. He also is accused of banging on windows at the apartment on different occasions and sending threatening text messages. Hochstine is facing numerous charges, including stalking, trespassing and harassment. He is jailed on $10,000 bail.

Drug Bust Nets 39

39 people have been rounded up in a drug sweep throughout Warren County. Members of the Warren County Drug Task Force conducted early morning raids that officials said targeted "petty drug dealers selling dangerous chemicals which wind up being injected into the veins of users." Warren County District Attorney Ross McKeirnan said in news release that, "We are not talking about blowing around a little pot smoke. This stuff destroys lives." He added that there would have been four additional arrests today, had it not been for four recent drug-related deaths. McKeirnan added a message for the drug dealers. He says the police know who they are, and are coming to get them.

Cell Phone Causes House Fire

A cell phone that had been plugged in and charging for several months is believed to be the cause of a fire at a Brocton house Wednesday evening. Chautauqua County fire investigators say the phone apparently overheated and set nearby materials on fire. The fire has been ruled accidental. No one was hurt, but a mother and her three children have been displaced by the fire and are being helped by the Red Cross.

Punxsy Phil Says "Six More Weeks of Winter"

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning and predicted six more weeks of winter. The crowd of about 18,000, many of whom had waited hours to witness the famed Groundhog Day ceremony, booed. The mood was generally jovial, however, as the crowd clapped and sang and watched fireworks in the unseasonably mild conditions. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett was in attendence this morning.

Man Accused of Assaulting Police Officer

A Salamanca man has pleaded not guilty in Cattaraugus County Court to assaulting a police officer. 27 year-old Catlin Jackson is facing several charges, including assault, reckless driving and obstructing governmental administration. Jackson was arrested last July in Salamanca after he injured a police officer in a scuffle.

Fire Damages Olean Apartment House

The Olean City Fire Department is investigating a fire which damaged a two story apartment Tuesday night on Wayne Street in the city. Two New York State Troopers, Mark Jones and James Scanlon, joined Rintaro Wada, a music instructor at Olean High School, in getting the residents of the two apartments out of the complex safely. A dog and two cats were saved from the front apartment and two cats were rescued from the rear apartment. Olean Fire Chief Robert Bell says the fire started in a garage, spread to an attached carport and later the apartment. No one was injured in the blaze.
