Next week is National Child Passenger Safety Week. The Coudersport State Police Station in conjunction with UPMC Cole will be conducting Child Safety Seat Checks at UPMC Cole, Wellness Center Parking Lots on Monday September 21st from 2 pm until 8 pm, and again on Saturday September 26th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Shinglehouse Fire Department.
During these times anyone may bring in their vehicle with a previously installed Child Safety Seat and have it checked for proper installation. Anyone with a new Child Safety Seat can bring that seat to be installed and get personalized instruction on how to properly install as well.
PSP who have completed the one week course conducted by Safe Kids and the National Highway Traffic Safety Institute will be conducting the checks and installations. No appointments are required but are encouraged. They can be made by calling 814-274-8690 and requesting to speak with Trooper Rose or Trooper Sebastian.
Traffic crashes are among the leading cause of death in PA. Educating the public about the proper use of child safety seats in motor vehicles plays an important role in saving lives.
